The Library Geek is a free, open source web based library material and material borrower management system. An excellent tool for librarians needing to administer borrowers and library materials. The Library Geek makes a first-class addition to any school or church library..

The Library Geek is a full featured Java based client / server application utilizing Java servlet/applet architecture under the jRivet Java framework It comes bundled with Tomcat 5.5 but is easily configured to any Java Servlet Web Server or J2EE web container.   

The application database can be created on most database managers that support a good JDBC driver including (but not limited to);  MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL.    SQL scripts are provided to create all required tables, indexes and table views.    Installation is made fast  and easy  with our pre-bundled Tomcat Java custom installer.   You will be up and running with Tomcat with-in five minutes of downloading required software.

Documentation takes an easy step by step "how-to"  approach for creating custom environments for both Windows and Linux.   Supplied documentation also outlines how to configure an ODBC/JDBC bridge or standard JDBC data source for your database.    Environment paths and JDBC data source details are all set in a simple XML configuration document.   

The user interface is built completely with the jRivet development framework.   This creates a very robust client / server application with easy web-server deployment.

Guidelines for using our on line demos

Be patient. It may take a minute or two to start the client on your machine

Ensure you have a functional Java plug in enabled on your web browser at least 1.5

Accept our certificate. In order to use our client you must accept our certificate when prompted,

Allow our pop-ups. You must allow pop-up windows in order to use our demo application. Just turn off your pop-up blocker during the demo. You can turn it right back on when you are done.

Be considerate. This is a new service running on an older Tomcat web server so be considerate of others. Demos are for evaluation only. All inappropriate content you add will be removed.
