jOpenIT
is Java-Swing port of the popular PHP OpenIT information systems
management application.
The purpose of jOpenIT is to provide a Java-Swing user interface for
the OpenIT
database. jOpenIT runs on top of the
current OpenIT 2.2 database structure so the PHP and Java versions can
be run
concurrently on two web servers (a PHP web server and a Java servlet
server) using the same data-source.
jOpenIT is a full
featured
Java based client / server application utilizing Java
servlet/applet architecture under the jRivet Java
framework. It comes bundled with
Tomcat 5.5
but is easily configured to any Java Servlet Web Server or J2EE web
container. Installation
is made fast and easy
with our pre-bundled Tomcat Java custom installer. You will be up and running with Tomcat with-in five
minutes of downloading required software.
Documentation
takes a step
by step "how-to" approach in creating application environments
for both
Windows and
Linux. Supplied documentation also outlines how to
configure a MySQL
JDBC data-source for your current PHP OpenIT 2.2 database.
Environment
paths and JDBC data-source details are all set in a simple XML
configuration
document. SQL Scripts are provided
to add
additional jOpenIT security tables to your current OpenIT 2.2 database.
Application security is managed separately by the two
versions. Administrators can grant different access to the PHP
version and/or the Java version without impacting one another.
Our goal is to duplicate all functionality currently found within
version 2.2 of OpenIT while adding a robust user interface and support
for Java printing with PDF reports.
